1. A. I would rate my physical well-being as a 7 because I exercise most days of the week and I eat also eat clean most of the time but it can always be better. B. I would rate my spiritual well-being as a 5 because I have too much to do each day and do not have the time to concentrate on my spiritual well-being. C. I would rate my psychological well-being as a 5 also because I feel overwhelmed and stressed.
2. A goal for my spiritual being would be to be more aware of the moment and use the principle Intention to help me with this. A goal for my psychological being would be to not put too many things on my plate in a single day. A goal for my physical being would be to increase my exercise from 3-5 days a week to 5-7 days a week.
3. To assist me with moving toward my spiritual and psychological goal I could set aside time each day to quiet my mind and meditate. To assist me with moving toward my physical goal I could set aside time each morning to make sure I fit in exercise every day.
4. I found the exercise to be somewhat frustrating because I found it very difficult to focus and stop my wandering thoughts. "I don't really have time for this" kept creeping into my mind, it took work to stop it. I am sure with lots of practice I would benefit greatly.
Hi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you already lead a healthy lifestyle physically. Increasing you days for exercise will give you more time for focusing on your health. I like the spiritual goal of being in the moment, in today's fast paced environment I think this is something we all must do. Many of us miss out on precious moments becausemwe are focused on what we need to do next. Meditation is a great way to help you reach that goal. Sounds like you are off to a great start.
Leslie
Thank you Leslie, I agree :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's great when we can look at different aspects of our lives and we are able to see where our strengths and weaknesses are. It is great that you have found different ways of increasing the rates in each of these categories. I think health and wellness is so important because we cannot function otherwise if we are not healthy. It sounds like you have a great plan for yourself and I wish you the best of luck in your future!
ReplyDeleteI hope I am not offending you, but your post was making me laugh about how the thought of you don't have time for this kept coming into your mind. I am laughing right now as I type this because that is how I feel almost every time I try and meditate. Thank you for your honesty now I don't feel as silly.

lol, no problem! I am working on it, glad I'm not the only one :)
ReplyDeleteHello Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI found your Blog very interesting and also find myself attached to time. I liked seeing that your goal to improve your mind and spirit by setting aside time to be quiet and meditate. I found myself relating to you when I did the relaxation exercise-do not have time for this. I got frustrated with all the images that were moving quickly and I had trouble trying to keep up, so then my mind started to wonder. My mind started to race with all the things I still had to do and I did not have time to do this. Do you think it will work for you setting aside time-or will you still use that time to focus on other things. I find that trying to change my frame of mind and my focus is the hardest thing for me to do? Do you have any tips? Thanks for getting me thinking with your Blog.
Thanks, Emily
Hi Emily, I find it is best to practice this first thing in the morning when my mind is at its quietest. I have no distractions in the morning and I find it easier for me to concentrate.
DeleteHi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI also found it difficult to quiet my mind during the exercise. I kept thinking of what I needed still do and could not focus on the moment. I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with this :)
I like your goal of being in the moment...it sound so simple but it is difficult to do. Many times when I get stressed or upset, I find myself realizing that I'm thinking of something in the past or even the future...but not the present...and I say to myself...what exactly is wrong at this moment that has gotten you so upset? And the answer usually is...nothing at all. Have you experienced anything like that?
Here's a quote a friend once sent me:
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Today is a gift...that's why it's called the present.
Sorry if it's corny...couldn't resist ;-)
I saw that you rated your psychological well being at a 5 because you felt stressed and overwhelmed. I find that superb time management is key to helping me feel better psychologically. I found the study we researched very interesting. The study was about how people who were working and feeling overwhelmed. The people who felt overwhelmed had multiple negative health affects. The people who looked at it as a challenge had none of these affects. I found this incredibly interesting and I look at it as a way to encourage me to look at my life as a challenge and to fight the feeling of being stressed or overwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteI see that it does sound like you live a busy life but what i would sugggest tot include whiule watching the exercise video, I did not see you mention that you was focusing on breathing this might help you to stay focus and relax if you focus on your breathing and thinking about breathing. Let me know if this helps and thanks for the great post.
